Jazz Nights at Cohiba Lounge – Cayman Islands
If you are into jazz and a good cigar, then there is no better place in the Cayman Islands to spend an evening on a Thursday or a Saturday night than Cohiba Lounge on West Bay Road in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. Cohiba Lounge has an extensive range of Cuban cigars to suit every taste and you can also take advantage of the owner’s immense knowledge on Cuban cigars if you are not sure what you are doing.
It is a small cosy bar lounge that is frequented by local residents and tourists. My favourite nights are Thursdays and Saturdays because there is a jazz band lead by a local saxophonist, Gary Ebanks. The band plays from about 8.30 pm to 11 pm on the allocated nights. They perform a lot of cover versions and some of their own creations, you can also make a request and if you have a good voice or can play an instrument you can get on stage and become a part of the band. The Lounge does not have a kitchen, but the owner can order food for you from the many restaurants that are nearby, so that you can enjoy your food while watching the band play. Cohiba Lounge also has two wide screen TVs and these are very popular when there are big live matches being broadcast.
What I really like about the place is the very comfortable sofas that form “the lounge” within the bar. Quite a few of the expatriates working in Cayman Islands regularly met here and everyone seems to be very welcoming, including tourists. This is an indication of how friendly the ever-present owner and the beautiful waitresses have made Cohiba Lounge. As far as affordability is concerned, Cohiba Lounge is slightly less expensive than many of the establishments on Seven Mile Beach road.
